eGovernment services restored following technical problems

Blata l-Bajda, Malta – [ 21/01/2010 ]: At 10:35hrs this morning, the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) suspended access to all its eGovernment services due to technical issues. This precautionary measure was taken to ensure that full diagnosis can be carried out following some reports of malfunctioning websites.
 
This suspension has impacted all eGovernment services, a number of services delivered by local councils, visa and passports systems, certain services provided by insurance agencies, pharmacies, and email services of certain entities.
 
The Agency carried out a number of tests to isolate and resolve this technical problem related a malfunction in a system component. There is no indication of any breach of security. Services stated to be brought back on line at 14.34hrs. MITA apologises for the interruption in these critical services.
