MITA provides efficient, effective and secure ICT infrastructure and services to government.
It operates a Tier III Data Centre which hosts the vast majority of government information systems, including those critical for the operation of the Maltese Public Administration. Taking into account the nature of data that is hosted, the setup provides for resiliency, redundancy, backup and appropriate security measures, both from a facilities management view and from an ICT infrastructure perspective. The services and applications provided through the MITA Data Centre are monitored proactively 24 x 7 by Operations Centre staff.
MITA provides the Government of Malta with digital services such as a hybrid cloud infrastructure, an email platform, internet and other ICT facilities. Access to these services is provided in a secure manner over a wide area; a fibre-optic based network enables all ministries and entities to interconnect.
It equips government employees with modern desktop facilities, including hardware, support, licences and collaborative software. It also serves as the single point of contact for all ICT related incidents.
