Corporate Data Repository (CDR)
As part of the data management related works performed by MITA on behalf of the Government of Malta, a number of data related services are managed by the Enterprise Data Management team. The officially endorsed register of enterprise data services should be the only source of information when used to guide the data architecture compliance process and for any other enterprise data management initiative that depends on the quality and reliability of master and reference data used across the whole spectrum of Government processes and services.
MITA offers data services based on web services technology for accessing the Corporate Data Repository (CDR). This web service is known as the CDR Adapter web service. The main benefits of this service are that it enables data consumers to access the data, irrespective of technology utilised and at the same time enables MITA to encapsulate the source of the mentioned data. MITA believes that this centralised approach of accessing common data of various government departments and making it available through the CDR Adapter web service will provide the following benefits:
- Ease of use: The common data published by various data owners is requested centrally and accessible from one central place, enabling various entities to access data in a faster and easier manner.
- Sharing of resources: Data consumers have a single authentication process representing their business owner’s business needs and access a single API with common usage requests, documentation and responses. Datasets published by different data owners are managed through specific method authorizations.
- Avoidance of duplication: This service offers a single version of a particular data in government departments and thus avoids duplication of data
Further information can be found in the CDR Consumer Pack whilst requests can be submitted from the RFS website.
