MITA manages the supply and distribution of laptops and desktops in government. This is done through the formal ‘electronic tendering process’ in full adherence to procurement regulations.

It periodically determines the required minimum specifications for each purchase request. This is based upon market trends and technical developments for the provision of hardware in order to meet the software requirements and demands of the Government of Malta. By ensuring hardware is supplied with minimum specified standard specifications and security features the Government benefits from standardisation and economies of scale.

Ministry CIOs no longer need to go through procurement procedures individually, thus reducing administrative overheads and improving efficiency. As part of this framework, Ministry CIOs benefit from three year warranty cover with specific service levels of support, which are monitored centrally.
