13th September 2024 – Publication of Policies
We would like to bring to your attention the publication of the :
- Generative AI Tools Usage Policy Version 1.0
- Cloud Services Policy Version 1.0
The following Policy documents have also been updated accordingly to reflect the addition of the above-mentioned Policies:

13th January 2023 – Publication of Workstation Policy
We would like to bring to your attention the publication of the Workstation Policy V6.0 effective 13/01/2023.
The changes in this version include, the specifications and the green public procurement criteria to:
- Appendix 3: High End Laptops
30th March 2022 – Publication of Workstation Policy
We would like to bring to your attention the publication of the Workstation Policy V5.0, effective 30/03/2022.
The changes in this version include, the specifications and the green public procurement criteria to:
- Appendix 2 : Standard Laptops
- Appendix 3: High End Laptops
- Appendix 4: Ultra-portable Laptops
22nd February 2022 – Publication of Policies
- Information Security Policy v7.0, effective 22/02/2022
The main changes in this version are:- Updated deadline date for assignment of security marking (Statement 17) and removal of deadline date for federated authentication as this is now in force (Statement 38).
- The addition of a new section pertaining to account management security measures that need to be taken in case of movement/long absence of employees (Statements 142-146)
- Updated statement on access rights with respect to expiry, termination or dismissal or removal of employment or contractual agreement (Statement 36)
- Justification in writing is being required where data owners request that inactive accounts are not to be deleted (Statement 41).
1st June 2021 – Publication of Vocabulary
We would like to bring to your attention the publication of the Vocabulary v12.0
The main updates in this version are related to introduction of new terms specifically related to the Federated Authentication Mechanism.
27th October 2020 – Publication of Policy
We would like to bring to your attention the publication of the Workstation Policy v4.0, effective 26/10/2020.
The main changes in this version are a specific reference to OPM Circular No. 5/2014 that regulates the Procurement of Computers and Workstation Support Services, as well as updates to the appendices that contain various minimum specifications included in the last procurement tenders issued by MITA. These appendices are updated whenever a new procurement tender is issued.
9th December 2019 – Publication of policies
As part of the ongoing policy rationalisation exercise, the following are the latest four GMICT Policies to have been revised:
- Information Security Policy v6.0, effective 09/12/2019
This version of the policy includes security-related statements from the following documents:- Personal Computer Configuration Policy
- Software Installation Procedure
- Software Installation Request & Assessment (SIRA) Form
- Software Asset Register
- Corporate Desktop Software List
- Corporate Desktop Software List (CDSL) Maintenance Procedure
- Connectivity to MAGNET Policy
As a result, these documents have been repealed. Therefore, from this version, the use of the SIRA Form shall no longer be required.
- Enterprise Architecture Policy for Interoperability and Reuse v3.0, effective 09/12/2019
This policy streamlines the content previously found in the following documents that are therefore being rescinded:- ICT Solutions Policy
- Enterprise Architecture Policy
- Interoperability and Open Specifications Policy
The publication of this new policy is also accompanied by the removal of the:
- Solutions Architecture Assessment Procedure
- Adopted Specifications
The Adopted Specifications document may be made available upon request for legitimate inquiries regarding current contracts.
- Centralised Digital Enabling Services Policy v3.0, effective 09/12/2019
This policy contains a grouping of enabling services that the Government has centrally invested in through MITA for widespread use across the Public Administration. Other services will eventually also be included in this policy. The following documents have been repealed: - Cloud Services Policy
- Electronic Payments Policy
- Mobile Messaging Service Policy
- Website Policy v2.0, effective 09/12/2019
This version simplifies and updates the content of the following documents, which have been rescinded:- Website Directive
- Website Content and Presentation Standard
- Website Security Standard
- Website Accessibility Standard
- Website Taxonomy Standard
- Website Standard for websites prior to 3 June 2011
7th October 2019 – Publication of Policy
We are pleased to announce the publication of the Workstation Policy v3.0, effective 07/10/2019.
This document simplifies and replaces the Personal Computer Hardware Policy v2.0 and the Personal Computer Hardware Specifications v1.0. This policy includes in its appendices the specifications for various minimum workstation specifications used in the last procurement tender issued by MITA. These shall be updated whenever a new procurement tender is issued.
18th July 2019 – Publication of Policy
The Open Source Software Policy v3.0 has been published and is effective from 18/07/2019.
This policy encourages the adoption of cost-effective and non-disruptive Open Source Software (OSS) throughout the Public Administration, and seeks to maximise re-use of procured software by enabling the distribution of Government solutions as OSS.
29th January 2019 – Publication of Policies
We would like to inform you of the following GMICT Policy publications:
- Information Security Policy v5.0, effective: 29/01/2019
The Information Security Policy collates in one document the policy content previously found in numerous scattered policy documents. It also aligns itself to all ISO 27001 controls. The most important changes can be found at this link. - Cloud Services Policy v2.0, effective: 29/01/2019
This second version contains a slight change in reference to MITA’s cloud service offering. - Internet Policy v1.0, effective: 29/01/2019
Internet-related content has been revised and separated from email-related content. This policy supersedes all internet-related content in the Electronic Mail and Internet Services Policy and Electronic Mail and Internet Services Directive.
29th January 2019 – Removal of policies
A number of GMICT Policy documents have been superseded and removed.
