Jonathan serves as MITA’s Chief Information Security Officer, leading the Cybersecurity Services Department and shaping the agency’s strategic direction in cybersecurity, governance, and operational resilience. He plays a central role in strengthening Malta’s national cyber defence, overseeing threat intelligence, security operations, and resilience initiatives. As head of the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre, he promotes collaboration across government, industry, and EU institutions.

With over 25 years of experience, Jonathan has progressed from software development to senior leadership roles, including Chief Technology Officer. He has aligned MITA’s security posture with key European frameworks such as NIS2 and the Cybersecurity Act, while driving ISO 27001 security practices and ISO 22301 business continuity standards. He chairs the National Cyber Security Steering Committee and oversees the National Security Operations Centre, ensuring effective incident response. Known for his collaborative approach, he advocates for cybersecurity as a national enabler of trust, resilience, and innovation.
