MITA Cares, the Agency’s CSR arm, once again had a remarkable year, with its committee members dedicating their time and effort to plan, coordinate, and deliver initiatives that make a meaningful difference in society.

There are countless vulnerable individuals who depend on the support and compassion of others, and we are committed to standing by them. From those facing health challenges, psychological struggles, or personal loss, to individuals experiencing financial hardship, neglect, or abuse, MITA Cares strives to bring hope, relief, and positive change to those who need it most.

The work of the MITA Cares Committee extends beyond tangible assistance to beneficiaries; it also conveys a powerful message of hope and encouragement. Beyond the joy of giving, initiatives like these inspire others; individuals, businesses, and community groups to contribute and make a difference. Across the Maltese islands, countless NGOs and individuals need such support, and MITA Cares is there to answer that call.

2025 marked another full year of such initiatives. While maintaining traditional programs, the Committee also embraced innovation, exploring new ways to create positive impact in society. This success is driven by the dedication of its committee members, the generosity and participation of MITA employees, and the unwavering support of its management, which fosters an environment where CSR can flourish and produce tangible results.

A Year of Key Initiatives

  • Blood Donation Drives: Starting the year in January with a blood donation drive, MITA Cares repeated this initiative twice more throughout 2025.
  • Internal Fundraising: Various internal fundraising activities took place, from social gatherings and item sales to distributing goodies in exchange for donations, creating both engagement and support for worthy causes.
  • Community Events: In March, children from communities in need were invited to a carnival costume party, creating hours of fun in a safe, joyful environment. The Committee also assisted an NGO with warehouse organization, doubling as a team-building activity for MITA employees. Additionally, MITA Cares helped manage pledges for a fundraising telethon organized by another NGO.
  • Quarterly Donations: The Committee continued quarterly donations of shopping lists, including groceries and toiletries, supporting smaller NGOs in providing essential items to those in need.
  • Summer Activities: A computer game-themed party for children from partner NGOs brought energy and excitement, made possible with voluntary support from a third-party organization.
  • Telethon Support: Throughout the year, MITA Cares facilitated employees’ participation in NGO telethons, managing pledges and creating memorable experiences of giving and joy.
  • First-Time Initiatives: September marked a first for MITA Cares, as the Committee and volunteers guided visitors around an iconic historic building, educating the public on its history and plans. Later in the year, MITA Cares, in collaboration with Ambjent Malta, planted eight trees, extending its impact to environmental causes.
  • Ongoing Support: The Committee continued to prepare laptops, in partnership with an NGO, to provide children and families in need with essential digital tools.
  • End-of-Year Highlights: December included a children’s Christmas party and MITA’s participation in Malta’s largest telethon, with around 60 employees volunteering for pledge management and related activities.

The above highlights represent only the top-level activities; countless hours of discussion, planning, and coordination underpin every initiative. 2025 has laid a strong foundation for 2026, setting a higher bar and building momentum for even greater impact.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Committee members, who dedicate time beyond their full-time roles, as well as MITA Management, employees, and supporting partners who make all this possible.
