Local Area Network (LAN)

MITA provides consultancy and expert advice to ministries and other government entities in designing wired or wireless Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure for their sites. It assists also in identifying LAN active and passive requirements for a scalable network in which equipment is centrally managed and is homogeneous across all sites. The Network Engineering Services team, responsible for the LAN service, prepares the network design, compiles the Bill of Quantities (BOQ), configures the LAN equipment and, eventually, provides support services through a suite of network monitoring tools.  The LAN infrastructure within the MAGNET extends to more than 90,000 network points, 6,000 km of network cabling and 2,700 network switches.
