Wide Area Network (WAN)

The MAlta Government NETwork (MAGNET) is the Government’s secure and private Wide Area Network (WAN) that interconnects all ministries, departments, entities and embassies and provides connectivity to the Core Network within MITA Data Centre. MITA provides more than 760 remote sites with fibre optic connectivity services having high bandwidth speeds and redundancy options. For small to medium size local area networks, MITA also provides broadband connectivity services through DSL or cable technology at various bandwidths. It also assists government employees in securely carrying out teleworking over the public internet with the use of secure VPN technology.
